Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College is introducing a new undergraduate program in artificial intelligence and data science. The program is designed to prepare students for careers in these rapidly growing fields.

The program will teach students the latest techniques in AI and data science, as well as the skills they need to apply these techniques to real-world problems. Students will learn how to build intelligent machines, software, and applications, and how to use data to make predictions and solve problems.

The program will also teach students the skills they need to be successful in the workplace, such as how to work effectively in teams, how to communicate their ideas clearly, and how to solve problems creatively.

The program is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and is offered in both Tamil and English.

This program is a great opportunity for students who are interested in a career in AI or data science. The program will provide students with the skills they need to be successful in this field.

This specialization is crafted to groom our students as frontiers in building intelligent machines, software, or applications with a cutting-edge combination of Artificial intelligence, Data analytics and visualization technologies.In this era of industry 4.0, almost all the industries are stepping into automation where AI and Data science play an pivotal role.Thus the curriculum and syllabus of this program equip aspiring students with the skills to perform intelligent data analysis which in turn provide dynamic and lucrative careers in technology.

Data Science bring into play AI to generate predictions and also focuses on transforming data for analysis and visualizations. Hence to make the student fraternity to move towards the future, we have introduced this new course which is the need of the hour.

Industrial Training / Internship

  • Students may undergo training or internship during summer / winter vacation at Industry/ Research organization / University (after due approval from the Mentor, Class advisor and Departmental Consultative Committee (DCC).
  • In such cases, the internship/training should be undergone continuously (without break) in one organization. Normally no extension of time is allowed.
  • However, DCC may provide relaxation based on the exceptional case. The students are allowed to undergo three to four weeks internship in established industry / Esteemed institution during vacation period.

To create an essential knowledge for extracting data from heterogeneous domains.

To equip the student with knowledge, through different programming skills and creating a knowledge representation for the inferred data, so that it can be applied in the real time scenario.

To enable the student as a Data Analyst by designing a right Machine Learning algorithm and seamless programming skill to solve any sort of application.

Curriculum and Syllabi

Certification Courses

Students shall choose an International certification course of 40-50 hours duration specified in the curriculum, which will be offered through Train Lab Centre of Excellence. These courses carry no credit and will not be considered for CGPA calculation.

Students Achievements

1. Achievement (Virtual Hackthon)

Four students, Gokulprasath.R, Vasan.C, Ragul.S and Hariguptha.A have won first prize in Kore.ai Botathon a global event and has won the cash prize of 2000 USD. In this event, a team should develop a conversational bot that fulfills event requirements. Our team has also received goodies.

2. Achievement ( Virtual Hackthon)

Four students, Gokulprasath.R, Vasan.C, Ragul.S and Hariguptha.A have won first prize in Kore AI Botathon Global event conducted by Kore AI and has won the cash prize of 7000 USD. Our team has developed a financial assistant Bot with main focus on simplifying payment services and stock trading platforms for the users. The bot with innovative design and that utilizes most of the technological features.

3. Achievement (Hackathon)

First Prize  Was Offered By National Level Hackathon With Internship

Jayachandran and his team have participated in hackathon conducted by Cloud Counselage Pvt Ltd and have achieved first position and declared as winner in the event conducted on February 2023. An internship was offered to the winners of this hackathon.

4. Vortex Boeing Hackathon 23′ NIT Tiruchirapalli

Six students, Lingeswaran, Aatif Ahmed, Sharanjey, Vignesh, Visakan and Vijaysurya won second prize in Vortex Boeing Hackathon 2023, conducted by National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli. They have also received a cash prize of INR 15000. In this event, the team should come up with the solution to the given problem statements and submit their work to the judges. They have developed an amazing solution and won second prize in this event.

5.Youth Talk Regional Level

Leka Shree participated in Youth Talk conducted by ICT Academy and went up to Regional Level – Puducherry on 7th October 2022. In this event, a topic would be given to the participant on the spot, and the participant should talk about it for a certain amount of time in front of large audience. They are judged based on the fluency of language, body language, and confidence level.

6. Youth talk Regional  level Final

Ashika participated in Youth Talk conducted by ICT Academy and achieved first position and declared as winner in Regional Level – Puducherry on 7th October 2022. In this event, a topic would be given to the participant on the spot, and the participant should talk about it for certain amount of time in front of large audience. They are judged based on their fluency of language, body language and confidence level.

7. Coding Challenge

Niranjan have won 1st prize in Coding and Debugging Challenge conducted by Manakula Vinayagar Technology College as part of National Level Symposium. In this event, the participants should fill in the missing code and debug it to provide correct output. The participant who fixes it in short time with high accuracy wins this. He has won Cash prize of Rs. 2500

Three first year students, Abinaya Shri, Sharli and Keerthana have won First prize in Technical Connection conducted by Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering and Technology on May 4th and 5th May 2023 as part of Technospark ‘23. In this event, the participants should guess the word based on pictures given. The words were related to technical terms in the field of computer science.
