CENTAC Engineering Admission 2023
Introduction to CENTAC
All Government Quota seats in private and unaided professional colleges, including the minority colleges will be filled through centac counseling admission and will be as per the law or the order of government of Pondicherry. The details regarding the number of seats in respective colleges will be available at the time of counseling. Candidate admission counseling order will be based on the performance of the candidate in the higher secondary or equivalent board examination. Only candidates who have applied for the centac counseling will be eligible to attend the counseling and pick the college and course of their choice subjected to the availability of the seats.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary Academic examination conducted by Board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu or other equivalent examination. A minimum of 45% marks for general and 40 % from OBC / MBC / BCM / EBC / BT / SC candidates is required. Also candidate should have done the prescribed subjects, of mathematics, physics and one of the following optional subjects, Chemistry / Bio technology / Computer Science / Bology ( Botany and Zoology) for the candidates of Tamil Nadu. For candidates belonging to other state will need JEE main score for admission.
Guide to Determine the Merit Score
Admission is based on the marks secured by a candidates in the prescribed subjects of the qualifying examination (i.e. for H.Sc. Academic: Mathematics, Physics and any one of the optional subjects (Chemistry / Bio- Technology / Computer Sciences / Biology / Botany & Zoology) & for H.Sc. Vocational: Vocational Subject Theory, Vocational Subject Practical and a related Subject) and normalizing them by the prescribed procedure.
Equal weightage will be given to all the three prescribed subjects. In case a candidate has appeared in more than any one of the above prescribed optional subjects, the subject in which the candidate has obtained the highest marks will be taken into consideration for “Normalization” and for calculating the actual total marks in the prescribed subjects. Wherever separate marks for practical are awarded, the same will be considered along with the respective subjects, for arriving at the total actual marks.

Guide for priority in case of same merit score
When more than one candidate has the same marks in the common merit list (i.e. the merit list prepared after merging the normalized marks of candidates from various Boards), the merit among such candidates, for each course will be determined in the order of priority as specified by CENTAC and will be prioritized as below:
- Percentage of actual marks in Mathematics
- Percentage of actual marks in Physics
- Percentage of actual marks in third optional (specified) subject
- Total marks of all eligible subjects prescribed for the course
- Date of Birth (Earlier born)
- Random number assigned
- Sports Certificate (if applicable)
